Hello I am Matela Zepeda from Ensenada Baja California, México. It’s a pleasure to serve you as Chairman for our District 4100 for the period 2019-2020. Previously I’ve had the opportunity to work as my Club’s YEO and as Zone 1 Coordinator for several years now , by being involved in the Youth exchange program I fell in love with it, I have hosted in my house 13 students from Poland, Germany, Brazil, Corea, Taiwan and met many more! They will remain in my heart forever as I am sure you will too, therefore I Welcome you with open arms
I will be honored to continue the work this marvelous program has all over the world, by introducing you to our friendly District located on the Northwest part of Mexico, were you can find gentle and caring people willing to welcome you as part of their families while learning Spanish, Mexico’s traditions, participating in community service projects with our Rotary clubs, making great friendships and indulge into our tasteful cuisine.
All of these inspired by RI and RYE guidelines that will help you walk trough leadership skills helping you to understand yourselves and our culture, transforming you into great peace ambassadors.
We have a big an diverse District which starts with Baja California: a nature loving Peninsula where you can find an Industrial Border with the US, nice beaches, a growing wine country (Tijuana, Mexicali, Rosarito and Ensenada),which also has a big fishery industry and also a research & science community.
Farther south we have the cities of La Paz and Los Cabos with tourist and ecological destinations as Whale watching, catch and release sport fishing, Missionary Trails, endangered animal reserves, and there are also popular places for Conventions.
Our next state is Sonora, a very productive agricultural and cattle raising State with friendly cities like Hermosillo with aerospace and automotive Industry, Guaymas fishing and Aqua culture, Obregon and Navojoa big Agricultural lands ,And last but not least the North part of the state of Sinaloa, Los Mochis, Guasave and Guamuchil with growing agricultural projects.
These States are our different Zones and each one offers you a Coordinator and a RYE team; Rotarians, Counselors, ROTEX and YEOS that are more than willing to work side by side with you all 45 Inbounds; helping you make this year the best one of your life!!
I am confident that your stay in Mexico is going to be fruitful, happy and full of adventures and that together we can connect the world by becoming great leaders and committed in service citizens. And I will quote our RI past President Barry Rassin “I want you to desire for something greater, the drive to do more, to be more, to create something that will live beyond each of us”
