Agosto 2017

Today, I am delighted and honored to host the Rotary Youth Exchange Program of District 4100 in the Northwestern part of Mexico and to warmly welcome all rotary fellows in this spectacular place. I am proud that you have chosen to spend the RYE 2017-2018 in Mexico, allowing us to prove one more time that national borders are just geographical.

Indeed, you- ¨inbounds¨- represent three amazing continents Europe, Asia, and South America, pretty big uh? Moreover, you- inbounds – will be living in 4 of the greatest states in Mexico, BC, BCS, Sonora and Sinaloa.

Not only would you be inspired by the vast variety of climates that all these major states posses, but also become imbedded in its customs and the day to day life. In addition, each one of you will make a valuable contribution to your families, friends and surroundings.

My name is Haru Thompson Navarro Chair of Rotary Youth Exchange Program in District 4100. I have been working with this amazing community-service oriented program for four years; However, not until this past month July 2nd have I been chosen as the Chair for the District 4100. So, we both are starting something new and exciting. Previously, I was Ensenada’s zone 1cordinator, and co-chair which happens to be my hometown the “Cinderella of the Pacific” as we locals refers to our lovely city.

I am a believer that by engaging young people in giving back to their communities’ youth will become engaged citizens, and consequently a more driven positive youth will prevail. And because of that, I’ve been fortunate enough to work for a decade now with the young people.

I am responsible for the program in our district, but due to the extended geographical territory, you will have a Zone Coordinator who will be able to help you with any situation, regardless of the simplicity or complexion of it, that cannot be solved at the club level with the help of your counselor and/or YEO; however, you are always welcome to contact me at any time if needed.

I encourage you to contact your host family as soon as possible, they are eager to meet their new son/daughter; by doing so, you will feel at ease ones you arrive to Mexico and confident that a new beginning in your life full of exciting experiences is about to start.

I am looking forward to finally meet all of you at our Induction Camp. I chose a place located at the
Ensenada Scenic Road, one of the most beautiful roads for its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, Baja
Seasons beginning on august. All of the participants will have the opportunity to explore outdoor activities such as canopy, swimming, make a fire and so on. Although, we will have a full-agenda of recreational activities, we need to get some work done, and will review our Program District Rules and other useful information.

Looking forward to meet you soon,

Haru Thomson Navarro
